When to plant vegetables in Delaware

In Wilmington, tender crops like tomatoes and peppers can go out around April 22, and frost has historically passed 9 years in 10 by May 7. Cool-season crops go in from March, and again from July for fall.

Questions about planting in Delaware

When is the last frost in Delaware?

On average from about March 29 in Lewes to April 11 in Bridgeville. Frost is over 9 years in 10 by April 25 to May 13.

When can I plant tomatoes in Delaware?

The extension service lists May to July. Tomatoes are frost-tender, so Ezina dates them from about April 22 in Wilmington. If frost is in the forecast, wait until it passes.

What can I plant in Delaware in October?

The extension calendar lists cress, rhubarb for October.

Is it too late for a fall garden?
