What we share, what we do not, and what we will never do.

What we share with outside services
Data goes to outside services only when needed to deliver the product. The recipients:
Plant.id (Kindwise)Photos for identification + health assessment. Returns species matches and disease findings. Image bytes + optional location hint only — no name, email, or account ID.
PlantNetPhotos for identification. Returns species matches from citizen-science contributions. Same scope as Plant.id.
Google SafeSearchPhotos submitted to social posts. Returns a content-classification result we use to block inappropriate uploads. Image content only.
Microsoft PhotoDNACryptographic hash of social-post photos compared against known CSAM. If matched, US federal law requires reporting to NCMEC.
SupabaseHosts our database, authentication, and storage. Bound by a data-processing agreement. Operates only on our instructions.
Apple & GoogleSubscription transaction information through in-app purchase systems. We do not see your payment method.

Identification gets more accurate with a location hint, but you decide how precise.

How we fund Ezina
Subscription revenue and credit-pack purchases pay for identification API costs, hosting, infrastructure, and the team's time. No venture capital. No equity investment. Who does Ezina share my data with?
Answer
Plant.id and PlantNet receive image bytes and an optional location hint for identification — no name or email is attached. Google SafeSearch and Microsoft PhotoDNA receive only image content or hashes for moderation. Supabase holds the database under a data-processing agreement. Apple and Google handle subscription transactions through their in-app purchase systems. No advertisers, no brokers, no analytics resellers.

How does Ezina handle location data?
Answer
Identification gets more accurate when the service knows roughly where the plant is, but you decide how precise that hint is. Exact device coordinates give the strongest accuracy and are the default if you grant location permission. City-level information is the alternative — identification still works, with a broader candidate list and lower confidence on overlapping species. You can switch at any time in Settings > Privacy > Location precision; the change applies to future requests only.

Does Ezina show ads?
Answer
No. Ezina does not run ads in the app and will not in any future version. Sponsored placements, affiliate links, and paid species in identification results or care reminders are all permanently excluded. This commitment is unconditional.
Q.04 · Pricing
What happens if Ezina's prices change?
Answer
Three guarantees apply to any subscription or credit-pack price change: a notice at least 30 calendar days before the new price takes effect, delivered by email and shown in the app; and your explicit opt-in to renew at the new rate — Ezina never auto-renews you onto a new price. If you do nothing during the notice window your subscription simply ends at the close of the current billing period. Credit packs already purchased keep their value regardless.

How is Ezina funded?
Answer
Ezina is funded by the people who use it. Subscription revenue and credit-pack purchases pay for identification API costs, hosting, infrastructure, and the team's time. Ezina does not take venture capital, equity investment, accelerator funding, or any other outside money that comes with strategic input. No outside party has a seat at the table for product decisions.

Trust only comes with being honest. We will always cite our sources, from treatments to native region mapping. If we don't know something when you ask, we let you know.
